3,3'-Diindolylmethane, also know as DIM, is a compound derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol which is formed in the body from plant substances contained in “cruciferous” vegetables such as broccoli,califlowers, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and kales. All these vegtables are recommended as the most health food that help to protect the body against cancer.

Similar to the effects of indole-3-carbinol, 3,3'-Diindolylmethane(DIM) has been wildly used in health supplement products on the market for preventing breast, uterine, and colorectal cancer. It is also used to prevent an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hypertrophy, BPH). 3,3'-Diindolylmethane(DIM) can be also use for treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP)
Recent research also suggest that 3,3'-Diindolylmethane(DIM) can be usd as radioprotector and mitigator.Evidence shows that use of 3,3'-Diindolylmethane as a medical countermeasure to prevent or mitigate acute radiation syndrome due to whole body exposure and it also useful in preventing or mitigating late normal tissue damage due to partial body radiation exposure during cancer treatment.
Side Effects and Dosage
Diindolylmethane is considered be safe when consumed in the small amounts found in foods. A typical diet supplies 2-24 mg of diindolylmethane. It is possiblely safe for most people when taken by mouth short-term for medicinal purposes. Taking larger doses of diindolylmethane is POSSIBLY UNSAFE. Taking 600 mg of diindolylmethane daily has been reported to lower sodium levels in some people.
